The other day, the lyrics to the song “Dying Star” by Jason Upton played in my mind during prayer with the Lord. As I thought about what happens when actual stars die scientifically, He proceeded to tell me that stars are born and how they just don’t come out of nowhere. As I did more research, I came upon the fact that every star is kept alive by the light in which it shines.
Jesus is the Light and the core foundation of disciples. As light shines from the center of a star, that very light keeps it from collapsing on itself. How much more is the Lord’s Light to sustain those who believe? It’s magnificently glorious!
As I listened to the song “Dying Star”, the lyrics spoke to the grave situation that is happening in the Body of Christ in the area of pride and idolatry.
Jeremiah 10:11-Say this to those who worship other gods: “Your so-called gods, who did not make the heavens and earth, will vanish from the earth and from under the heavens.”
Light and darkness can not ever be mixed! The Light of God is pure, and those in the Army of the Lord have one clear agenda that aligns with His Kingdom. No other gods will take part in reigning victorious with God! It’s impossible!
Below is a description of the song “Dying Star” from www.jasonupton.com:
It’s not good music that breaks the yoke; it is the anointing of Jesus that breaks the yoke and sets us free. All through the Bible God used people who didn’t have a clue, who didn’t have all the answers and who didn’t really know anything. They had no strategy – or their only strategy appeared to be to look to heaven and say, ‘my eyes are on You, great victorious warrior, You are my shining star’. In the end, it’s our own choice whether to live out our own strategies thereby living so that others see only ‘our’ abilities; but then we’ll end up just like the enemy – just another “dying star”.
God is building an army of sons and daughters whose single-minded passion is for His purposes alone. Stars rise and fall but sons don’t. God has raised up a generation of sons and daughters, not a generation of superstars. But as long as we continue trying to be someone or something we will never be anything of worth to God. Jesus was worth everything to God. Jesus was the ultimate warrior, the ultimate pastor, the ultimate intercessor, the ultimate worshiper, and the ultimate teacher; and not because Jesus was the ultimate superstar, but because Jesus was the ultimate son. The songs on this cd call us from stardom into sonship.
The lyrics to this song speak volumes of what is occurring today. Heed the words of the Lord and turn your heart back to Him. May the depths of your inner being shine with the Light of the Lord!
May the lyrics set you free and take you deeper into sonship with the Father!
Lyrics: “Dying Star” by Jason Upton
You’ve got your best man on the front side
You always show your best side
And evil’s always on the other side
You say this is your strategy
But son I hope you take it from me
You look just like your enemy
You’re full of pride
You’re full of pride
We better trash our idols if we gonna be
In the army of the Lord
And the greatest idol is you and me
We better get on the threshing floor
When will we learn that God’s strategy
Is giving glory to the Lord?
So God
So we trash our idols cause we wanna be
In the army of the Lord
Star how beautiful you shine
Your shine’s more beautiful than mine
You shine from sea to shining sea
World-wide is your strategy
But shining star I hope you see
If the whole wide world is staring straight at you
They can’t see me
They can’t see me
I want them to know, but they can’t see me
I want them to know me
I want to show my glory
But they can’t see me
So rise rise rise
Live out your fantasy
Think that you’re better than me
Rise rise rise
Live out your man-made religiosity
Rise rise rise
Live out your strategies
Rise rise, rise so the world can see
Rise rise, rise so the world can see
So the world can see
Just another dying star
We better trash our idols if we gonna be
In the army of the Lord
And the greatest idol is you and me
We better get on the threshing floor
When will we learn that God’s strategy
Is giving glory to the Lord?
So we trash our idols cause we wanna be
In the army of the Lord
In the army of the Lord
Raise up army, raise up an army
Raise up an army oh God
Raise up army, raise up an army
Raise up army in the army of the Lord
In the army of the Lord
There’s no room, there’s room
There’s no room for idolatry
In the army of the Lord
There’s no room, there’s room
For man pleasing in the army of the Lord
In the army, in the army of the Lord
Raise them up, raise us up, oh God
